Adrian Perez, 19, of Springfield, was arrested on Wednesday, June 14, and charged with murder, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a gun without a license, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license, Springfield police said.

He was being held without bond, the Hampden County District Attorney said.

Alexander Rodriguez, 19, and Khidhr Moultrie, 40, both of Springfield, were found dead inside a home in the 200 block of Union Street on June 7, authorities said.

Perez is only charged with the death of Moultrie. A spokesperson for Springfield police declined to answer if there was a possible second shooter but said the investigation is ongoing.

Investigators did not release any potential motives for the killing.

Friends of Moultrie who posted memorials to him online said he was a kind and loving man with big plans for his future.

Perez is expected to be arraigned in Springfield District Court on Thursday.

Investigators ask anyone with information on the shooting to contact detectives at 413-787-6355.
